Brush up on your glazing fundamentals with this four-week class! This class is best suited for folks who want to learn when to use certain glazes over others, how to achieve a certain result, and how to choose the right glaze for a piece. Each week, we'll talk about the characteristics of a different category of glaze, and we'll glaze a few pieces using the glazes discussed. Test tiles and sacrificial bisque are available for all students.
This course includes all glazes and firings, but participants must bring their own bisqueware made of clay suitable for a Cone 5-6 glaze firing.
Pre-requisites: Previous 4 or 8 week course (wheel or handbuilding) and bisqueware. Established Meld members may join for the full course in lieu of their membership, or they may choose to attend single sessions in addition to their membership ($30 per drop-in class; contact a staff member to sign up).
