Join us for a 4-week long, beginner-friendly wheel-trimming and attachments course at Meld. This course is best suited for folks who have thrown on the wheel a handful of times already, and would like to continue their practice with an instructor.

We'll be focusing on learning wheel-trimming and clay attachment basics, including handles and sculpted feet. Students will be working on the wheel (both throwing and trimming) for all 4 weeks. Feel free to bring your own leather-hard pieces with you to your first session, if you have them (practice pieces will be provided for those without any).

At the end of the 4 weeks, students will have the option to continue for a 4-week glazing fundamentals class, or to select their glazes and have staff finish their pieces, which will be ready for pick up 2-3 weeks following the final class. Alternatively, folks that wish to glaze their pieces themselves may join us during regularly-scheduled Workshop Glazing dates.

Details

Each class participant will receive up to 12 pounds of a smooth-throwing clay, 2.5 hours of instructional wheel time per week, options to make-up a missed class toward the end of the session (because life happens), and all the tools, glaze, and firings needed to create and finish your pieces end-to-end. Folks are typically able to create 6-8 pieces per course, in addition to finishing pieces from previous courses.

Our series classes run small, with a maximum of 6 participants to 1 instructor, to ensure that each student receives personalized instruction, advice, and guidance specifically geared toward your personal needs and areas of improvement. Our goal is to build your foundational techniques and your confidence at the same time, so that you can continue to practice and grow in what is often a very humbling craft!

Schedule

This class will meet from 6:30pm - 9:30pm on the following dates. Instruction time will begin at 6:30pm and end at 9pm, and guided clean up will occur from 9pm - 9:30pm.

If Thursdays don't work for you, don't worry! We'll be rotating to other weeknights throughout the year. Get on our class notifications list or follow us on Instagram to hear about upcoming class schedules.
